This is the 501st blog post on Evr0ck17.medium.com. I thought it was going to be the 500th, but I guess I planned that poorly and posted something else at 500. 501 posts! Wow. What do you say about that?
I’ll say this: I’m glad the blog isn’t just one of those things I got really into for 2 weeks and then got over, like so many other things. 500 posts in 2 years means that I stuck with it, and I produced some good stuff.
Even if I haven’t been the most inspired lately, the last 100 posts have had some of my most read and enjoyed stories, like “Here’s to Us,” which got more reads than anything I had written in the first 400 or so. I haven’t checked, but I think it was a lot more.
That kind of changed how I look at writing, though.
I don’t write as much as I used to because I think too much. I want everything to be a really good post now, but I should cut that out because there are 501 posts. They can’t all be hits. I should go back to sitting down with nothing and seeing what comes out.
