Why don’t the homeless just get a job?

Have you ever considered the logistics of going from the sidewalk to working on the books for someone who’s lost all identification? I can tell you where I’m at:

Feeling stuck, because apparently you need a social security card to get ID, and you need ID to get a social security card. No ID? no job. You have to spend 5$ on the subway trip to get to the place where they are going to deny the social security card request. No Refunds. It makes you feel like the game is rigged, and you can’t get back in it. The poor stay poor.

When i post the fundraising links, it isn't exactly what i want to do, I would love to be employed to do something with my day, and not worry about any given 5 dollar subway ride, and not “virtually panhandle”.

When i post the buymeacoffee link at the end of my stories, it isn't because I’m lazily holding out a change cup, believe me.

This week I’m going to round up my birth certificate with everything i can find with my name on it and try again. I’ve got utility bills addressed to me, various cards with name on it, and the drive to advocate for myself. Cross your fingers. Social to ID, ID to job hunt, job hunt to job!

That’s one reason a homeless person cant just decide to up and become a income taxpaying contributor to the world. I know i’m domiciled now, but it takes a lot to recover from being a no one sleeping in the doorway.

I’m not about to give up.
