Cancel Everyone Else’s Culture

I’ve been trying to make some sense of this whole conservative culture war thing. I don’t know why. I have some questions for the anti-woke outrage clique.

Okay, so break it down for me here, please. Now, we want freedom of speech, and we hate cancel culture, but we ban books? We want to make drag shows illegal? We get all worked up when Target sees money in flying rainbows around in June, so they do what corporations do when they smell money (milk that shit)? AR-15s are our God-given right, but Plan B is murder?

You mean to tell me that it’s unconstitutional to regulate your military-grade assault weapons, but if we let men wear dresses or let students learn factual history, we put our children in danger? You’ve got the whole thing messed up. If you do the math, the First Amendment comes before the Fourth.

Come on, man. Have you seen what Catholic priests have been up to? Have you heard about what happened at Parkland, or Sandy Hook, or anywhere else our regularly scheduled mass shooting (featuring AR-15s, every time) of the week happens?

Maybe I get it, you just don’t want your culture canceled. Make America great again? Like, when? When women couldn’t vote or have their own bank accounts? When black people had no rights, and Emmett Till got beaten to death for apparently looking at one of your wives?

Make America great again, like only when it was great for your fragile, hetero, white, Christian, privileged ass, and literally no one else.

The First Amendment only applies to you saying racist, homophobic, and misogynistic shit without being called out for it, but not to your average corporate branding that’s trying to make a buck by looking inclusive? It doesn’t apply to any book that conflicts with your limited, outdated, and factually problematic worldview? I’m no constitutional scholar, but I was under the impression that the First Amendment protects all speech, especially unpopular speech.

Wait, Citizens United was your idea! Corporations are defined as citizens because of the GOP, and therefore, Target and Anheuser-Busch have a constitutional First Amendment right to be as fake queer as they want! The whole “anti-woke branding” is also very counterintuitive to the whole “free market will regulate itself” being one of the tentpole concepts of your god Ronald Reagan. The free market will regulate itself until your fragile ass gets offended.

You love cancel culture, unless it’s cancelling you.

Hey now! This is the portion of the blog post where I mention that you can buy me a coffee, if you like my work. because that’s what I do, try to profit off of thinking: https://ko-fi.com/evr0ck17
