Change Me (poopy diaper parable)

When I was in rehab prior to returning to the city, I had a Jewish roommate named Ari. Being that it was Yom Kippur, a rabbi came into talk to him and perform rituals that I know nothing about. I’ve already told that story, I actually want to share the story that the rabbi told Ari.

So, there was a toddler with a poopy diaper, and it stank. The child’s grandmother said to the little one “I’ve got to change you”.

The child replied “why do you have to change me?!”.

The point is that absolutely nothing about this child had to be changed, because he was exactly as god intended him to be. What had to be changed was the toddler’s shitty diaper. I don't think I'm doing the stinky little parable any kind of justice but it hit me in a concept that I've been toying with for at least the past year or so, Ever since I went to the NYC corgi meetup in Dumbo, Brooklyn and watched the majestic creatures get really dirty, and then just shake it all off and keep it moving.

I am not dirt, I am just dirty. I am not trash, I am just trashy, and I can shake it off like the corgis did in Brooklyn… and so can you.
