Chemical Lobotomy (Afternoon/Evening)

Afternoon:

I went to urgent care to find out why I have no energy. I thought there might be something seriously wrong with me. The doctor said, “No, man, you were on a heavy-duty antipsychotic, and you’re still feeling its effects.” It’s been six days since I stopped taking it, and today, I feel even worse than I did initially. At least now I know what’s causing it, I suppose. These drugs can be quite intense, and they’re prescribed rather casually, despite the fact that they can drain your vitality and personality. It’s like they say, “Try this one; it might chemically lobotomize you, but hey, it might not.”

Evening:

I was in the shower, and I thought, “Why don’t I watch that J. Mascis video from 12 years ago when I get out of the shower?” So I did, and, man, I was feeling it. That’s always my litmus test for knowing when I’m starting to come out of something — when I can enjoy music again. So, I’m pleased to report that things seem to be moving in the right direction mentally after having the lowest energy day in the 9 or 10 days since I first encountered that horrible drug. Maybe tomorrow, I’ll feel like a human again.
