Man, it’s been a while but dancing is so good for you. Many times in the past I’d be happy to go to a bar in asbury park, NJ and hear a Grateful Dead cover band play all the songs I know. I’d just swing and sway, twirl and whirl. I was sober and the fact that I was in a bar and there was booze being served didn’t even occur to me.
I enter a zone, a metaphysical trance, drugs are not at all required.
There’s another local asbury band that would play funk music with a full horn section, rocking covers of kool and the gang and the like. I’d ride my bike to langosta lounge every time Waiting On Mongo would play, I’d be on a solo mission to dance as strange and as hard as I could. I never really talked to anyone, I just went to maybe freak folks out and work up a funk sweat. I think the band started to notice.
I miss live music, and dancing like a freak. I want to get back to that or discover some kind of secret underground dance party. until then ill be strutting the streets and dancing on my own.
