Doin’ Too Much

One of the many New York sayings that I really appreciate is “you’re doing too much”. it’s just like “hey, slow your roll” or “chill out”. after my adventure to Manhattan on Sunday, I felt like I was doing too much. especially since I learned about the problems with the j train that made a normally hour long ride back take 4 hours, and feature a jam packed shuttle bus full of crying babies, and, so I didn’t do anything yesterday but finish off the post for my brothers birthday, eat many snacks and scroll Instagram. I was asleep before 8.

I want to report that my plan to get my writing in front of the over 100,000 people who follow the art installation “Strangers Project” on social media paid off, and it should be featured on their main page in the near future. see, I know what i’m doing. just kidding, I have no idea. this has the potential to vastly expand my audience, which is great. i’m not apologetic about wanting to promote my work any more. that’s what you have to do when you create content, in this media landscape. it’s probably always been what you have to do, put yourself out there and hope for the best.

now, i’m pretty much all ready to move out of Jamaica to queens Village, just waiting on the go ahead, I believe i’l go look at the new place today ahead of a move by the end of the week, but I don’t really know. not knowing and having a firm plan drives me kind of crazy. I think it’s from my mother always impeccably planning everything, I don’t really like flying by the seat of my pants, especially when it comes to moving everything I own. luckily it’s not furniture and stuff of that magnitude, and luckily I wasn’t here long enough to make any big additions to my belongings, so it should be much like when I came here in the first place, which was fairly painless (aside from the complete mental breakdown).

i’m just holding off on things like grocery shopping and laundry for when I do actually move. i’m wearing the same outfit and eating out a lot, which isn’t optimal but is what it is. I've got no one to impress with my attire, and i’m not in danger of starvation, it’s just a little discomfort. i’m fortunate that my supportive housing people are helping me get to a situation that I think will be healthier for me and I have to be patient, patience not being my strong suit at any point in my 38 years alive.

obviously I will write about everything that happens during what could be a very eventful week in a number of ways. if you are one of the people paying attention, thanks, and stay tuned.
