“This is all I came to do”

Facebook is kind of over, once the republican national convention, the anti vaxxers, libertarians, Cambridge Analytica, and the Kremlin got hold of it it wasn't the bleeding edge positive digital social movement that it was in 2006. I got on it pretty early since I had a umass.edu email address (when you had to be in college to join).

So there it is right before my very eyes: my entire adult life, scrollable and cringe-able. Facebook is kind of beat now so I made a plan for what I'm going to do on it. I scroll a little bit and it's mostly ads for what my phone heard me talking about earlier in the day (this isn't paranoia, man). In between the ads are the lives of everyone I've ever known, and it's enjoyable if I avoid the pitfall of comparing myself to them.

I used to get in fights with the MAGA crowd, I will not be doing that, besides I’ve not been digital friends with fascists since the red hot piss and shit show that was the 2016 presidential election. I’d be waiting for my pocket to buzz so I could compose my rebuttals, and I couldn’t be present in the analog real world.

So I’ll tell you what I’m on Facebook for: whoring out this blog, posting wholesome nostalgia trips, good dogs, and linking bitchin' concert videos (I’ve been seeking them out since before ad revenue was a thing on youtube).

I'm there for the well-wishing life cheerleaders like family friend Mary Ellen Parker, whk love to see the kid live and do well. Good wholesome shit, no links from Reddit politics to get all tore up over. I have time and energy to dump content all day and I intend to do that.

You gotta be careful with social media, it can make you mentally ill, I want to spread positive things that people can come together over.
