Expansion of capabilities in Hollis Queens

I am writing this post from a totally different apartment than I wrote this morning’s post from. I got surprised by my housing agency, and moved over here to Hollis, queens at around 6 pm. i’m going to scope out the area tomorrow, and i’ll report back. I met my roommate, R. Patel, who was in the midst of prayer to the Hindu god Shiva when I arrived. I’ve been a bit interested in that religion ever since I got the Bhagavad Gita at a music festival, and read it out loud on LSD. plus, my spirit animal and guitar hero J. Mascis is Hindu. i’m taking it as a good omen, besides i’ve always liked Indian folks.

I don’t know enough about this situation to make a full appraisal right now, but i’m making an effort to be optimistic, there’s something to be said for fresh starts, even though i’ve known that I bring myself everywhere for decades.

this post is about something else, anyway. it’s not my favorite use of a blog post, either… but I cannot avoid it, the deal is too sweet.

I was window shopping around Facebook market place, when I accidentally clicked that little button at the top of the app. I never considered what a wild amount of things you could find on FB marketplace, when you live in a city like new York. I was looking for a cheap laptop, anything that wasn’t a Chromebook (it’s just not compatible with any cool shit I like.) I don’t need anything remotely new or powerful, everything I want to run is at least 10 years old (Skyrim) or even 30 years old (street fighter 2), plus i’d pirate some version of word to work on this memoir that I’m actually 32 pages into.

I was thinking something on windows 10, no dedicated video card, likely a mechanical hard drive. no frills. but what I found surprised the shit out of me, and I can’t believe it. a vintage MacBook air (2012). the guy is asking 100 but I talked him down to 80.

if money were no object I would never own anything but a Mac, ever. i’m the kind of nerd that finds the Mac operating system sexy. when my last Mac got stolen I was inconsolable. I miss OSX and I especially miss GarageBand. I first taught myself how to make music on garageband, and it comes bundled with every Mac.

you might think that’s quite old for something like a computer, and i’m going to tell you why I don’t care: a mac runs forever, an old Mac that you take care of and don’t ask much of with will run for more than ten years. there are 2 things that I want to do that are best done on an apple computer: make music and write this book I’m working on.

A 2012 MacBook Air is more than capable of doing everything I want while also having that smooth Mac experience. So I’m trying to broaden the capabilities of the evr0ck initiative, but I need the help of readers to get me there so I started a ko-fi site, please help me get a perfectly capable computer for dirt cheap thank you.
