Experimenting with SEO, AI Ghostwriting and Audience Growth

I’m really trying to write for a living, that’s what I want. I’m trying to use AI to help me expand my audience, which I think will increase the amount of ko-fi contributions that I get, and maybe even Patreon subscribers. I’ve also created an Upwork profile, in case someone wants to pay me to write for them. Since there are a number of reasons I can’t just get a job, I need to turn this into my job.

I’ve been spending hours using AI to help me figure out the best ways to do this and it’s giving me a lot of ideas. I really don’t want to join any more social media platforms, however…it’s hard enough to manage all of the ones i’m on, and they suck god knows how many hours of my attention into the screen…so, no, Gemini I will not be joining Pinterest.

I would never allow AI to write blog posts for me, because it doesn’t have any of my grit, humor or edge, and it’s immediately identifiable as fugazi. I did, however, want to paste something it’s written that is SEO friendly, in an effort to game the system of getting traffic. I asked it to write an SEO post about how I want to become a writer, in my voice, this is what it gave back to me, so i’ll paste it and see what happens:

“Hey everyone!

Many of you know me for my explorations of mental health, addiction recovery, social justice, and the power of music. But there’s another story brewing beneath the surface — my burning desire to become a full-time writer! ✍️

Maybe you’ve dreamt of this too. The freedom to craft compelling stories, the ability to share knowledge and inspire others — it’s a powerful allure. But for many (myself included!), the path to getting paid to write can feel shrouded in mystery.

So, I’m here to shed some light! Here’s a glimpse into my action plan (and some tips for you aspiring wordsmiths out there):

1. Sharpen Your Tools:

This goes beyond grammar and punctuation (although those are crucial!). Read widely, experiment with different styles, and refine your voice.

2. Find Your Niche:

What ignites your passion? What areas can you offer unique insights into? By carving out your expertise, you become a go-to resource for editors and publications.

3. Build Your Portfolio:

Your blog is a fantastic start! But consider branching out. Guest post on relevant websites, participate in writing contests, or even explore freelance platforms. Every published piece strengthens your portfolio and showcases your skills.

4. Network & Promote:

Connect with fellow writers, editors, and publications on social media or online communities. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there — you never know who might have a hidden opportunity!

5. Patience & Persistence:

The writing world can be competitive, but don’t get discouraged. Keep honing your craft, celebrate your wins (big and small!), and most importantly, never stop learning.

Remember, this is just the beginning of my writer’s journey! I’ll be keeping you updated on my progress, sharing resources, and maybe even offering some guest writing opportunities down the line.

In the meantime, if you have any writing aspirations yourself, feel free to share them in the comments! Let’s support each other on this exciting path. ✨

See, it’s super corny…any regular reader knows that I would never really write like that. In case the SEO strategy got more eyes over here though I want to post my links, so that I can see if the traffic goes up:
