It’s Free Money (Welfare, Queens)

Life is very funny. If you’ve been reading you’ve read about my concern that I cannot afford internet at home. Well, last week in my scrolling I came up on an ad stating that Boost would provide free internet, with a free 5g hotspot for poor people on food stamps and Medicaid (which I am). I applied and got approved, and then I forgot about it.

Well, Imagine what was in my mailbox this morning, when I went to go get the coffee and frozen pizzas that I forgot to get at the grocery store last night… if you imagined a 5g hot spot, you imagined quite correctly.

I activated the little fucker, and took my card out of Spectrum auto-pay.

Now I don’t have to worry about that first month $80 and $50 every subsequent month. I’m not sure why the universe consistently provides everything I need, but I sure am glad it does. I like to acknowledge these moments, to assist with the ones when it feels like I’m eating shit from life, and life's challenges (which does happen).

I just want to put it out there, that if anyone ever needs advice on how to survive on basically nothing that I would gladly be that resource and can be reached at Ev.Penk7@gmail.com. I’m of the ‘Ol Dirty Bastard philosophy, which can be summed up by his MTV appearance where he proudly showed off his welfare/food stamp card and exclaimed “it’s free money!”

I have no illusions that the government won’t fuck me if given the opportunity, and so if I can fuck the government I certainly will. I’m not going to be ashamed of it either. I’m a socialist, I benefit from socialism and I want you to benefit from it in any way you can. It’s Motherfucking class solidarity, and we’re on the same side… unless you’re a billionaire or the police that protect their property, in that case you can get fucked for all I care.

You might not yet have realized that you’d more quickly find yourself without a roof over your head and a full belly, than you’d find yourself in the golden 1% of the population that controls some ungodly percentage of the wealth in this world.

You might think, oh “Ev, you little welfare queen”. That’s because you’ve internalized some bullshit propaganda, designed to pit the 99% of us against each other so that we never figure out that we could so easily handle the abhorrently unfair current distribution of wealth. Ask yourself this: why are you worried about what people on public assistance buy with their $289 monthly food stamp deposit, when in 2008–2009, nearly 500 billion taxpayer dollars had to bail out all of the big banks in the country? (Lucas, D.J. (2023). The true cost of the 2008–09 bank bailouts: A comprehensive analysis. Journal of Financial Economics, 123(1), 145–170.)

I’m not fucking up the economy, bro, if you want to get pissy about “welfare queens”, which by the way is a racist stereotype invented by one of the worst presidents we’ve ever had (Reagan) who fucked the country irrevocably … I think it’s time you go visit Bank Of America or Citigroup.

“We all too often have socialism for the rich and rugged free market capitalism for the poor ”— Martin Luther King Jr.

This might be my favorite thing that Dr. King said. It’s more true now, than when he said it. I’m quite sure if he somehow magically returned to life, that saying this kind of thing would get him knocked off again.

Someday i’m going to write “How to survive NYC on zero dollars”. I don’t feel like it right now, I just wanted to stop and look at today, as it is a good day… and I am very pleased with it.
