Ev’s Grateful Dead Archive Favorites

these are some of my favorite grateful dead tapes over the years, i use the relisten app on iphone but it really just scrapes archive.org on the backend, so i doubt you’d need the app to open them:

Grateful Dead • 1973–12–18 (03:07:54) • Curtis Hixon Convention Hall, Tampa, FL, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1973/12/18?source=90230

I happen to be listening to this one right now. The solo in brown eyed women just melts my heart. One of the tapes I got in High School off of FurthurNet.

Grateful Dead • 1977–05–09 (02:57:27) • War Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo, NY, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1977/05/09?source=91107

The night AFTER the most popular Grateful Dead tape ever. Any show in the spring 1977 is a good pick.

Grateful Dead • 1973–11–17 (03:04:07) • Pauley Pavilion, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1973/11/17?source=90288

I’m in it for the amazing version of here come sunshine and eyes, great show. Led me to dig into

1973 which has become my go to time period

Grateful Dead • 1974–02–23 (03:33:59) • Winterland Arena, San Francisco, CA, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1974/02/23?source=90430

Some of it is immortalized in the Grateful Dead movie. 21 minute weird other one (Phil comes through hot)

Grateful Dead • 1977–02–26 (02:41:16) • Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino, CA, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1977/02/26?source=90912

This is the first GD tape I ever got on FurthurNet. My favorite to this day (since I was 17). If you knew me I made you take a CDR copy. First terrapin station ever played, first Estimated. I have listened to it thousands of time and it never gets old.

Grateful Dead • 1989–09–09 (02:17:23) • The Spectrum, Philadelphia, PAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1989/09/09?source=97306

Amazing show from the resurgence that was 1989

Grateful Dead • 1969–12–30 (02:41:45) • Boston Tea Party, Boston, MA, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1969/12/30?source=88113

This is my go to “primal dead” tape. The energy is off the charts fantastic The Eleven i worry that electricity will come out of my headphones. Masons children is always welcome.

Grateful Dead • 1973–06–10 (04:35:09) • RFK Stadium, Washington, DC, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1973/06/10?source=90306

Great show not even considering how Dickey Betts sits in for most of the 2nd set. I got hooked on this dark star for a couple weeks a few years back, also an incredible version of Eyes Of the World

Jam -> (19:35) • Grateful Dead • 1973–07–27 • Grand Prix Racecourse, Watkins Glen, NY, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1973/07/27/jam?source=90145

This is a jam from the soundcheck before the Summet Jam concert at Watkins Glen. It’s amazing how it turns into Fire On The Mountain a full five years before the song made its live debut. I know people who were there, family friends the Parkers.

Grateful Dead • 1977–10–29 (02:55:15) • Field House, Northern Illinois U., De Kalb, IL, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1977/10/29?source=91017

“Firewheel burning in the air” non stop 2nd set, complete with a rare (at the time) St. Stephen

Grateful Dead • 1979–10–28 (02:38:26) • Cape Cod Coliseum, South Yarmouth, MA, USAhttps://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1979/10/28?source=91922

Being from Plymouth, MA it was surprising to me that the band had ever played on the cape. Even more surprising was the 18 minute stand alone Franklin’s tower that almost broke my subwoofer.
