i think i found this tape in the archive around 2015, I dont tend to listen to the 80’s that much, i’ve been hung up on 1968–1977 for years…this shit smoov tho. the whole week of the 4th of july 1989 burns shit down. imagine my delight to discover a full pro shot video of a hot brent era show today. god bless GDP for giving content away for free. there are so many prime pro shot videos up on youtube…i think the whole home video catalog is streaming.

fuck, you can hear the ache in this “Loser” solo, all MIDI and overdriven. the dead can be joyful but the darkness is so much part of it, too. without the sorrow of the losing streak gambler, the lost sailor and the wharf rat it doesn’t work. there is no jedi without sith.
the whole MIDI frontend on jerrys tone is so fresh between scarlet and fire, with that almost steel drum auto wah sound… i should dig around the 80’s more. i really like to sing “fire, on the muthafuckin mountain”, i started doing that at a Max Creek show one time, i never really stopped, I am obnoxious.
yes jerry forgets the words but that doesnt matter… i’m in it for the tone and the interactions between he and brent.
