Lightning Crashes (first time drunk)
I clearly remember the first time I was ever truly drunk. My friends had stolen a cooler full of beer from a cottage occupied by summer visitors of our quaint beach community. I was 13.
I was with a kid named Mike Robilard, who is an individual I could write a book about. A true individual, one of God’s favorite children. It’s a long term goal of mine to capture his essence in written word, someday.
I felt amazing , like I had been holding my breath for 13 years, and I finally inhaled oxygen. Robilard and I were parading down manomet Beach boulevard (Plymouth, ma) at 2 am, belting out the chorus of “lightening crashes” the mega cheese 1994 Live hit. Alcohol was never really that good again. That didn’t stop me from trying for the next 20 years.
