one of my favorite things that happens, is when I discover a new artist to listen to and learn there is an extensive back catalog to get obsessed with. yesterday my usual algorithm digging brought me to some music that I connect with on a deep emotional level. I’m positively astounded. you probably know what a big music nerd I am, and therefore it’s not often that something blows my head open.
YouTube brought me Fred Again’s NPR tiny desk concert, and I feel like i’m Mohammad coming down the mountain, i’m so impressed I think I sent the link to everyone I know. Fred Again is a British record producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and DJ and he makes music like I’ve never seen anyone make music in my life. I was aware of him because of the album he made with Brian Eno, but I was not aware of how prolific a talent he is.
there are definitely parts of the emotional spectrum that cant be described by words, but can be encapsulated with music, and this guy hits a lot of spots, I had to watch the video like 4 times before diving into his whole catalog of releases on Spotify. I will share the links because I got so obsessed I forgot to go to sleep, I was fascinated. this music Is going to enrich my life and carry me, I can absolutely tell right now.
look at it, it’s very rare to see someone do something unique and pull it off with such grace.
this is my favorite of the albums so far, but they are all really good with very little filler that requires skipping.
