Oh Yes, A Keyboard (In My Feelings)

I would like to report that I now have access to a mechanical keyboard, with rhythmic moving parts. I was writing from an iPad for a while, and then from my phone which just doesn't hit like an actual keyboard.

I can put on funky music and tap the keys inside of the rhythm, and it feels very musical and very happy.

Anyway, while I'm at this desk typing I would like to highlight another very NYC phrase that I've become accustomed to using: “in your feelings”. Now, if you’re in your feelings, something someone has done is fucking you up emotionally, and therefore you are suddenly inside of your feelings, or feeling “some type of way”. I always hated the phrase “feeling some type of way” because it never specifies which way… I would like to know which way you are feeling.

I would like to know how to avoid being in my feelings, because it isn't a very productive place to be. Eckhart Tolle talks about being the “watcher” of thoughts and feelings, and deciding not to let them take you away from your emotional and mental center. One can take feelings as facts, when they are most certainly not. This concept is something I struggle with, and I can think “well, I feel X, and I would rather feel Y, so maybe I should drink a six pack”, and a six pack becomes a 12 pack, which becomes… etc.. etc. etc.…

So, now I can slam keys on this computer when I’m in my feelings about something, and you (the reader) can be in my feelings… aren't you happy?
