Politics are only in my peripheral vision nowadays. there was a time during the trump years when I was fixated on cable news and reddit politics, but I don’t live that way, anymore. life is stressful enough.
I follow a few instagram accounts that sort of keep me up to speed, and with this past week being super tuesday and the state of the union, I had some thoughts.
I really don’t like Biden, and he's too old to safely operate a car, yet alone the national defense apparatus. I think people were hoping that he’d deliver on the promise of actual progressive action, and when he didn’t he lost a lot of people. this whole bypassing congress to secure weapons and funding for israel’s war crimes in gaza is disgusting, it makes Biden, and our country complicit in genocide, one hundred percent. I can no longer imagine getting fired up about any of these politicians and actively working to get them re-elected, especially not Biden.
so you think that because I trashed Biden, i’m somehow pro-trump. no, absolutely not. trump is so much worse than Biden. just an absolute shitbag con man. I don’t know how he bamboozled all of those people into thinking he’s some kind of “for the average joe” populist, there is no evidence to support the claim that he gives a fuck about anyone but himself. I bet you, hypothetically that he wouldn't even permit the average trump voter into one of his golf clubs.
my question is this: why is the presidential election between one shitty old white guy and a worse shitty old white guy? this is america, surely we can produce brighter stars than this.
i’m ashamed of this country not just for aiding in mass murder, but for the way it treats it’s poor and marginalized populations (usually by imprisoning them). every day i’m bombarded with negative things going on in the United States, but maybe the media’s function is to keep me afraid. there are like 3 cooperation’s controlling everything we see in the media, so if they have goals or an agenda, that’s what you’re going to get. the fear mongering keeps the population docile, so they don’t realized how fucked they are getting from the current power structure, and actually do something about it.
I think I completely lost the last of my faith in the media with the biased coverage of the situation in gaza. And be real, there would be no MAGA cult leader Trump if it hadn’t been so good for CNN’s ratings to have him on screen as much as possible. i’m not even talking about Fox either, the mainstream media is as responsible for Trump winning in 2016 as any of the other factors that lead to it.
there is lifelong damage from Trump being in the white house, too. he appointed 3 supreme court judges…that is going to leave a mark.
I remember the hope I felt surrounding Obama, like “yes, we are going to move this thing forward”. I don’t feel that at all, this system has to be dismantled, it isn’t broken it’s inherently not conducive to equitable life for the citizens. imagine if the populous looked outside of their screens long enough to realize we outnumber those who oppress us, and we pose a threat to their continued control of our country.
I’m over modern american capitalism, I hate it. I hope i’ll see it crumble in my lifetime. we are enslaved by it, the tf hreat of poverty keeping us grinding at some company that wouldn’t think twice about replacing us as soon as we we’rent viable to the bottom line. wage slavery is still slavery.
