Wii Golf Is My Sport Of Choice (Tiger Woods, Yall)

I could give a fuck about all sports, I just never cared about thrm, especially golf. For whatever reason I love golf video games, though. I also love the midway arcade sports titles from the 90s because they aren't at all based in reality, I will rock NBA jam and NFL blitz.

The golf thing all started with playing one of the Tiger Woods games for PlayStation 2 at my late friend Pat Corbett's house in 2004. The wager was this: losers had to pay for taco bell. Tiger for tacos.

When I bought a Wii off of the absolute wonder of a human named Mike Robilard in 2006, I was advised by the homie Austin to get Tiger Woods for the motion controls. While I think motion controls were mostly a gimmick of the mid-2000s, they absolutely worked wonders for tiger.

It became this thing we did at my apartment in Savin Hill, Dorchester, MA. Get a bunch of beer and hit the links virtually. I love Tiger for Wii, it’s so fun. Nothing can replace it.

During my time in Oakland , CA in 2010 the professional soccer statistics guys next door had Hot Shots Golf PS3 on a projector. That game is so fun, cartoonish and accessible. I play it on a psp emulator on my phone.

Many years later my friend and co-worker Krista (aka racecar) would spend 3$ on all of the Tiger for Wii titles, throw on a Breakbot set and play 18 holes at my apartment in Ocean Grove NJ. We would also occasionally play actual real-life mini golf. It became our thing. I miss it
